THE GOLDEN COAST
Taken along the Lost Coast of California on a two month backpacking trip. While camping on the beach for the first few nights, we were struck by this beautiful sunset, leaving me to think that I was in the Land Before Time or on some magical Hawaiian Island.
PATAGONIA AT SUNSET
Sometimes getting out of a warm sleeping bag is difficult for me; but on this morning I was up early because I knew what was waiting for me. In no particular order: 1. a stunningly blue lake filled with giant icebergs that had broken off from the Southern Patagonian ice field, 2. a long and beautiful hike out, with the chance to photograph incredible scenery, 3. a zipline across a raging river, 4. ice cream and pizza in the town of El Chalten.
GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
While on a solo backpacking trip in late September, I was eager to get to camp, rest and eat a warm dinner. But as sunset was approaching and looked to be a fantastic photo opportunity, I left my camp, and after hiking over a mountain pass earlier in the day, I climbed even further to get this vantage point of Lake Ellen Mary.
THE COLORFUL COAST
Sometime, it's not what you see, but who you see it with that you remember. That's the case with this sunset along the Lost Coast.

I was lucky to have the clouds finally break at the top of Mount Fitz Foy for this quick and brief moment before it disappeared again. Perhaps it's fitting that you only see it for a moment, it makes you want to come back again and again.

COLORADO
On this quick 3 day backpacking trip we experienced a little bit of everything the weather had to throw at us, from hail, to snow, to lightning, to rain and some fine sunny weather.
KAYAKING IN HALONG BAY
Emily and I had a fun time kayaking in Halong Bay. It was quite a different type of vacation then I'm used to. We went on a cruise, with all the meals, included, with a big fancy boat, volley ball, swimming, kayaking, and a cave tour. It was quite nice to take it easy and let someone else handle the details.
MILFORD SOUND
Milford Sound, New Zealand, is one of the rainiest places on the planet. It receives more rain than the Amazon Rainforest. I was lucky enough to work here for two months as a kayak guide; it will remain one of my proudest accomplishments as an outdoorsman.
